VEHICLES THROUGH THE YEARS
At a farm sale in about 1952 when I was 14 I bid on a 1927 Dodge pickup. I ended up owning it for the astounding bid of $19. The engine did not run and the huge nest of bees in the headliner was a part of the bargain. Dad and Grandpa towed the vintage vehicle home and tinkered with it til they got it running. It needed new tires which looked like bicycle tires mounted on the wooden spoke rims.

1927 DODGE PICKUP TRUCK
Eventually the truck was upgraded to good enough condition Dad put plates on it and used it to go to the elevator for feed grinding. When the long awaited day arrived to get my drivers license Dad was in the hospital so Mom drove me to the BMV to fill out the forms, then she drove me to the hospital where Dad needed to sign the forms. Not much could have kept me from getting my license on the very first day of eligibility.

BEGINNERS PERMIT
The first car I could legally drive on the road was a green 1940
From there it was a series of 50 to 75 dollar autos til I could work up to what was called a keeper. Some of my string of vehicles were photographed and will be featured on this page.
